Shiawassee Area Transportation Authority (SATA) announced on Friday that the Vernon Township Board had voted to end its partnership with SATA beginning October 1st. The change will force township residents who use the service to pay for their own rides. This change affects residents of Durand who live outside the city limits.

For the past 17 years SATA received funding from the township that allowed the service to provide residents rides to medical appointments, social service events and activities, grocery stores, pharmacies, schools and trainings, and other destinations.
